Privacy Policy

Account Information

You can use Google, Apple, or email sign-in, or continue as a guest with an anonymous account. Account providers may give us a name and email address. You may set a display name used inside shared sessions.

Location

Location permission is requested only after you choose Use my location. If granted, precise coordinates are processed for that request to build nearby restaurant results and are not stored in version 2 sessions. If you decline, your manually selected city center is used instead.

Swipe and Session Data

We record your swipes (likes, passes, and super likes) to calculate group matches and to improve restaurant recommendations over time. Session data includes group size, budget preference, cuisine preferences, meal time, and availability windows submitted through Schedule Assist.

Usage Data

Anonymous Firebase Analytics is off by default. You can opt in during profile setup or change the Usage analytics toggle in Profile at any time. We send usage events only while that choice is enabled.

We use the information we collect to: • Authenticate your account and keep you signed in • Build personalized restaurant decks based on your location and preferences • Match your votes with your group's votes to find a consensus restaurant • Calculate Restaurant of the Week rankings using aggregated vote data • Send you back to sessions you've participated in • Improve the app based on how people use it

We do not collect: • Payment or financial information • Contacts or address book data • Photos or camera access • Microphone or audio • Precise real-time location tracking (location is requested once per session, not continuously monitored) • Browsing history outside of DinnerWhere

Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase for authentication, database storage, and analytics. Firebase is operated by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Data is stored on Google's servers in the United States.

Google Places API

Restaurant information (names, photos, hours, addresses) is sourced from the Google Places API. We do not share your personal information with Google Places as part of these requests.

Reservation Platforms

When you tap a reservation link (OpenTable, Resy, Tock, etc.), you are directed to that platform's website or app. DinnerWhere does not share your personal information with these platforms — you interact with them directly.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. Other members of a shared session can see the display names, progress, preferences, availability, and final result needed for that session. If a member publishes a result link, anyone with its unguessable URL can view a sanitized restaurant result that excludes member names, user IDs, and precise location.

Group sessions expire from active listings after 7 days. Your account information and saved favorites are retained until you delete your account from Profile. Recursive deletion removes your profile, favorites, solo sessions, private publication mappings, and published result links. Shared session history may remain for other members, but your member identity and display name are removed; active sessions you hosted are cancelled.

You have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you • Correct inaccurate information • Delete your account and owned data from Profile • Opt in to or out of analytics collection with the Profile toggle For additional help, contact us at the email below.

DinnerWhere is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
